Components Guide - Build Reusable Assemblies with Automatic Cost Tracking

Create reusable components with automatic cost calculation for 3D printing and craft businesses.

Components are reusable parts that you make from raw materials. Think of them like sub-assemblies: a 3D print that needs to be painted, a laser-cut part that needs sanding, or a poured candle that needs curing.

Why Use Components?

Add materials to your component, specify quantities, and set wastage percentages to account for support material, failed prints, and material loss. StockCraft automatically calculates the total component cost based on current material prices.

Wastage Tracking

Set wastage percentages for each material in a component. For 3D printing, this accounts for support structures, bed adhesion material, and failed prints. A 10% wastage rate means your actual material usage is calculated as quantity × (1 + 10%).

Nested Components

Components can contain other components, allowing complex hierarchical assemblies. This is useful for products with multiple sub-assemblies that combine into finished items.
